The families of teenagers unaccounted for after a devastating inferno at a establishment in a Swiss winter destination are confronting an excruciating period of uncertainty for official news and appealing for any details about their loved ones via social media.

Emergency services have warned that it could take days if not weeks to identify the victims of the disaster, which resulted in the death of four dozen individuals and injured another scores more. Authorities said on the latest update that 113 of the injured have been accounted for, with work ongoing to name the other six.

In the interim, families and friends have been taking to the internet to appeal for any news about their friends who were at the bar that night.

Desperate Searches for the Unaccounted For

The location of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, 16, are currently unknown, according to an public plea from his parent.

The resident of a town near Lausanne, told a local newspaper that she had gone back to the city to check whether he was in the medical facility, while his other parent did the same in the capital, but was unsuccessful.

"This is a living nightmare, a nightmare. Either I find my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in intensive care. It's terrible," she stated.

She continued that some of his friends had been discovered with burns covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's unspeakable; they went through a terrifying ordeal."

The Italian government has said that a number of of its young people have not been located.
